PROTECTING YOUR VALUABLE DATA - SAVING YOU TIME AND MONEY

Information Provided by Evolve IT - www.evolveit.com.au

MANAGED BACKUP SERVICES

How it Works

Backup begins; data is compressed & encrypted locally before leaving you PC or Server.

Your data is transferred via the Internet to the OBS servers in a compressed and encrypted format.

Once you data has reached the OBS Primary server, it is automatically then backed up to our replication servers located more than 500km away.

60% of businesses have a backup

system that isn’t working for them!

Many businesses have a backup system in place, but for the majority of these that backup system isn’t working for them. The most common reason for this is the required level of human input.

How Much is Your Data Worth?

Your computers and other office equipment may be insured; but if you lose your data, you lose your business.

In today’s electronic-age, computers have become a necessary part of doing business and we rely on them more than ever to supply us with the information we need. Advances in technology may have bought us greater productivity and efficiency, but at the same time it’s all too easy for it to disappear! Just one wrong click, one virus, a power surge or even an unhappy employee and you could be facing thousands in data recovery costs, or worse!

Data loss can happen in many ways, and the most common is hardware failure. If you’ve stored everything on a computer hard drive, you could be in for a shock; it wasn’t designed to last forever.

Why Managed Online Backup Services?

Because it’s an automated and affordable way to backup your irreplaceable data, and it’s constantly managed and monitored by Evolve IT. At a predetermined time, your data is encrypted, compressed and sent to our secure, offsite servers. Most of the time, the data is on your server, but our service can even be applied to laptops for those users that travel and have a habit of storing data on their laptop and not on the server.

It’s an automated and affordable

way to backup your irreplaceable data!

Service Features & Benefits

  • Zero Client Interaction: After initial setup of the backup software, offsite backups will be performed as scheduled automatically without requiring any effort from your staff.

  • Email and Database Support: Exchange server email and line of business application utilising SQL server can all be fully backed up.

  • Scalability: Unlike tape drives and USB devices, our service can be adjusted on the fly to meet your growing data requirements. No need to “skimp” on what’s being backed up to fit it on the media.

  • Fast & Easy Restore: Our service desk can quickly and easily restore a single file or an entire set of data - there’s no need for you to search for the correct backup tape.

  • No Consumables Costs: Most traditional tape backup mediums should be replaced every six months, meaning additional costs and space requirements to store the old tapes. Online backup doesn’t require any media!

  • No Risk of Backup Hardware Failure: Traditional backup devices, such as tape drives, are susceptible to break downs, meaning additional repair costs and risk of data loss because backups do not occur during the down time.

How Securely is Data Stored Offsite?

We take the security of your data very seriously. Your data is encrypted to bank grade standards before even leaving your place of business and our servers are located in one of the Austra¬lia’s leading data centres with fully redundant power and internet connections. We conduct our own backups on the data centre’s own internal network to a secondary file vault every night, ensuring your valuable data is safe from catastrophic loss.

  1. Hi Mark
Great post. Back up are one of those things which you hope you never have to use. Its like insurance - no point getting it when you need it.
I know people who do backups, then back up of the backups and then back of the backups of the backups. However I would rather have one (ummm may be two) backups and know that they are reliable.

  2. Thanks Kashif. I appreciate you taking the time to read more than one of my posts today.

I agree - two is the go. You have your local backup in case your server snuffs it, and then you have your offsite backup in case the building burns down, or you have a water leak and the server room gets flooded, or anything else that could possibly happen.

Generally the local backup would be on tape, or USB drive, easy to restore and get up and running quickly. The offsite would be a snapshot with a daily update.

Thanks again for reading. If you need any more information, please drop me an email mark.ehlers@evolveit.com.au
